VyprVPN for China:
Based on our tests from China, we confirm that users can sign up VyprVPN’s services from China and VyprVPN’s VPN services can be used in China.
In order to help China users to bypass Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) by the GFW, VyprVPN also provides a proprietary method called Chameleon, which scrambles VPN packet data to make the VPN connection hard to be detected and blocked. Please note that Chameleon VPN is only available in VyprVPN’s Premium Plan, not in its basic plan.
VyprVPN’s VyprDNS service, which comes with their VPN accounts, can help preventing DNS man-in-the-middle attacks, which is one of common ways in which China’s internet blocking operates.
In addition, Chinese visitors can choose to use the Simplified Chinese language to visit their website, which is not very common among International VPN providers.
VyprVPN accepets Alipay as a payment option, which should be convenient to China users.
Recently we have seen stronger VPN blocking in China. Many VPN providers suffered from complete blocking. However, VyprVPN seems to suffer less from China VPN blocking, probably due to its Chameleon technology and its experiences in working with China VPN users.
VyprVPN provides apps for Windows, Mac, Android, IOS and router. Users can choose between multiple protocols, including PPTP, L2TP/IPsec, OpenVPN (160-bit and 256-bit). In addition, VyprVPN offers a proprietary method called Chameleon, which scrambles OpenVPN package metadata to make it hard to be recognized or blocked. This feature could be useful for users in China and it’s only provided in its Premium Plan.
VyprVPN’s Basic plan allows 3 simultaneous connections. Its Premier plan allows 5 simultaneous connections.
VyprVPN’s desktop software for Mac and its Android app has a nice featured called connection per app, which allows users to control VPN connection behavior on a per-app basis. If you only want to use VPN on some software/apps but don’t want to use it on the others, you can use this feature to set up.
VyprVPN does not block or monitor any type of traffic. As a result, torrenting is allowed. Also, there’s no limits on speed and server switching for using VyprVPN.
VyprVPN’s Premium plan provides another feature called VyprVPN Could, which allows users to configure their own server to utilize VyprVPN’s technology and access the server using VyprVPN’s software and apps. Basically, you get your own server and your own dedicated IP address. This feature might be useful to advanced users and business VPN users. Technical skills are required to use this service though.

VyprVPN’s VPN Software:
VyprVPN provides software for many platforms, including Windows, Mac, Android, IOS and router. We downloaded their desktop client for Mac OS. The installation process was straight-forward and the software interface is clean and intuitive.
With the desktop software, you can connect/disconnect to VPN and also change servers and switch connection methods.
When the VyprVPN client software is running, an icon will stay on the menu bar (or called system tray on Windows) and will indicate whether you are currently connected or not.

Connections & Speed Test for VyprVPN:
Is VyprVPN stable enough and fast enough to be used in China? For this test, we used a Mac from Shanghai, China. Our ISP is China Unicom. Without VPN, we could get a pretty fast download speed of around 66.96Mb/s. Below is the SpeedTest.net test result without connecting to VPN. Please note: this speed only reflects the speed for visiting local websites within China. International speed would be much lower than that. We show this result only to give you a rough idea about how fast our current ISP is:
Then we used VyprVPN’s Mac desktop client to connect to their Taiwan server using the Chameleon protocol. We got a download speed of 16.36Mb/s, which is pretty fast. Below is the SpeedTest result:
VyprVPN is one of the most stable and fastest VPNs we have test in China.
On VyprVPN’s website, there’s a link for live chatting with their customer support. We tried it a few times. Every time we were able to chat with a support representative within 1 minute. VyprVPN’s customer support was one the fastest and the most responsive ones among the VPN providers we’ve tested.
VyprVPN Review Conclusion:
VyprVPN offers good VPN services with a lot of servers to choose from. Users can sign up their service from China and use their VPN in China. VyprVPN is one of the most stable and fastest VPNs that we have test in China.
